My neighbors get enough entertainment watching me stagger out to get the morning paper. Weekend wake-up call begins around 6am. Who doesn't love being nudged from their slumber to the sounds of a crisp marching snare and pata fla flas broken up around the kit? [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Admit it, Fuse, nothing tickles your vocal fancy as much as Geddy Lee's I-just-inhaled-a-helium-balloon shriek of Anthem. Geddy's got balls, he just sounds like they've been surgically removed.

Besides he actually plays a musical instrument while doing it. And wouldn't be caught dead in zebra shirt. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Truth be told...I like GL...
When i 1st heard him back in '79, tho, i didn't...but aft a few listenings to Perm Wavs "it all" changed & i become a crazed fan of theirs 4 many yrs...so I'd havta agree w ya there, 5-O...& Anthem was a kick-a** tune...that tune, along w Subdiv & Spirt OR, became "anthems" of sorts, 4 me...[*ahem*] [img]wink.gif[/img]

When I first heard Geddy Lee's voice in 1975 I thought he was a great vocalist with one of those Rod-Stewart-type-of-immpossible-to-imitate voices, you just had to be born with it. In the 80s Geddy began to interpret Neil's lyrics in a monotonal delivery and he lost that gutsy rock poignancy.

When I think about it that's why I like instrumental music almost to the exclusion of everything else nowadays. For me, the first thing that gets old in a band, especially a rock vocal group, is the singer's voice, regardless of who it is.

Those damn singers need to leave more room in the mix for the drums! [img]rolleyes.gif[/img]
